Nielsen Acquires DoubleVerify for $2.15B, Taking Ad Verification Private
TL;DR: Nielsen is buying DoubleVerify for $2.15 billion in cash. That takes it private, joining Integral Ad Science, which went private earlier this year. The combined company wants one score covering both audience delivery and ad quality, with $4B+ in projected revenue. Deal closes early 2027.
Why It Matters: The two halves of ad verification, who saw an ad and whether it was real, now sit under one private roof. Public financial disclosure on verification economics goes away with it. And the timing is rough: fraud researchers found new schemes built to beat these exact metrics the same week the deal broke.

Courts Crack Down on Meta and TikTok’s Algorithmic Feeds for Minors
TL;DR: A New Mexico judge fined Meta $567 million and capped teen use of Facebook and Instagram at 90 hours a month. In California, a federal court ruled that algorithmically ranking content for minors isn’t protected speech. That clears the way for a law defaulting teen feeds to one hour of chronological content, with age verification starting January 2027.
Why It Matters: Platforms have leaned on one legal defense for years: algorithmic ranking is editorial judgment, protected like a newspaper’s. California’s ruling cracks that shield. Pair it with New Mexico’s nine-figure fine, and other states now have both a legal opening and a number to point to. More of this is coming, state by state, especially for brands in youth-skewing categories.

Retail Media Pushes Deeper Into the Path to Purchase
TL;DR: Amazon auto-enrolled Sponsored Products campaigns into new creator content placements, no advertiser action required. It also added PayPal installment financing in Germany and is expanding same-day GLP-1 delivery to roughly 4,500 US cities. YouTube opened its Shopping affiliate program to UK creators.
Why It Matters: Your search ads may now be showing up in creator videos, same bid, different context, because Amazon opted you in by default. Financing and pharmacy delivery add more purchase data platforms could eventually use for targeting. Worth checking whether your campaigns got swept in, and tracking that performance on its own.

SERVICE SPOTLIGHT
looking at the full picture
Because being a good partner means finding the real answer, not just explaining the number.
When a higher education client raised a concern about rising bounce rates and low time on site, it would have been easy to point to the media stats and call it a day. Instead, the team went looking for the real story.
They pulled the analytics data, dug into landing page performance, and traced where people actually went once they clicked through, rather than stopping at surface-level channel numbers.
What they found changed the conversation. One channel was already driving strong engagement and genuinely qualified traffic. At the same time, the deeper look surfaced clear opportunities to improve the experience on other channels once someone landed on the site. Rather than stop at the diagnosis, the team turned what they’d learned into specific recommendations and an action plan the client could put to work right away.
| |
“Being a partner isn’t about proving you’re right. It’s about being willing to look at the full picture and find the path forward.”
THE IMPACT: When a concern gets met with real digging instead of a quick explanation, clients walk away with more than an answer. They get a clearer picture of what’s working, new opportunities to improve, and a team that’s paying as much attention to their business as they are.

A NOTE OF THANKS
brkthru named to the Inc. 5000, five years running
5 |
CONSECUTIVE YEARS |
For the fifth year in a row, Brkthru made the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing companies. It’s an honor we’re genuinely proud of… and one we don’t take alone.
Growth like this doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It happens because our partners trust us with their campaigns, their budgets, and their goals, and because when their businesses grow, ours does too. Every year on this list is really a reflection of the work we get to do together.
So to every client and partner who’s been part of the ride… thank you. This one belongs to you as much as it does to us.
